This Flying Dutchman In-N-Out recipe switches up the classic burger game, making it keto-friendly with its crispy cheese onion buns and tangy sauce. It's a cool new take on an old favorite!
Slice onions into thick rings and cook in a hot skillet until softened and slightly charred.
Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese on one side of each onion ring. Once the cheese melts, flip it over so the cheese is on the bottom. Cover with a lid and cook until melted and crispy. About 1-2 minutes.
Divide ground beef into 4 portions. Form into a burger patty shape then season with salt and pepper
Cook patties in a skillet or grill until desired doneness is reached. Place a slice of American cheese on each patty and let it melt while the patties rest.
Assemble burgers by placing a cheese-coated onion ring and a spoonful of the Thousand Island sauce, followed by a beef patty, and repeating layers as needed. Finish with a cheese-coated onion.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Serving Size = 1 burger with two patties
It is ESSENTIAL to cover the pan with a lid when crisping the cheese on the onions if the pan is not covered while the cheese crisps, it will be difficult to remove from the pan!
