Here's a bit more information about what I used to make my Greek beef souvlaki.

Top sirloin

Obviously, you need beef. I cut up the top sirloin into 1-inch cubes. You can even ask the butcher to do this for you.

Onions

When you make Greek beef souvlaki skewers, use your favorite type of onions. Red onions will taste sweeter, and white and yellow onions will have a milder flavor.

Bell peppers

Traditionally, people use green bell peppers, but you can also add your favorite vegetables. Try it with some zucchini.

For the marinade, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Dijon Mustard
  • Lemon Juice
  • Lemon Zest
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Dried Oregano
  • Dried Thyme
  • Garlic Clove
  • Olive Oil

Please note: Check out the recipe card at the bottom for a full list of ingredients used to make this low-carb recipe.

Tips

  • Use a food processor or blender to mix the marinade. Using one of these tools will ensure the ingredients combine completely.
  • Soak the wooden skewers before you cook the skewers. This will prevent them from burning on your outdoor grill.
  • Pound the meat thinner. This way, your souvlaki beef will grill quicker.

Instructions

These beef skewers are absolutely delicious and don't require a lot of complicated steps. Here's a bit more information about how to make this tasty beef souvlaki recipe.

Marinate the beef

The marinade is what sets this beef souvlaki apart from other shish kebabs. Toss the cubed sirloin in the marinade and let it set in the refrigerator for at least an hour, but overnight is best.

️ Serving suggestions

These Greek souvlaki shish kebabs taste the best when they are hot off the grill or stove. Make some homemade tzatziki sauce from plain Greek yogurt or sour cream to serve along with them.

Greek souvlaki also tastes delicious with some mashed cauliflower on the side.

Lots of people enjoy lemon potatoes with souvlaki beef. Instead of potatoes, serve some lemony roasted artichoke hearts.

And instead of pita bread, make some keto naan. It is a low-carb type of flatbread that is a very close resemblance.
