How to make chocolate chip dip
This recipe comes together in four simple steps. All you have to do is mix!
- Combine butter and cream cheese. In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Add sweetness and flavor. Blend in the caramel syrup, vanilla extract, and erythritol with a mixer until well combined.
- Stir in chocolate! Add the dark chocolate chips and stir to disperse them throughout the dip. I like to use ChocZero chocolate chips.
- Place in small dip bowl. Once the dark chocolate chips are mixed in, transfer the dip to a serving bowl and keep chilled until ready to serve.
Tips to Lessen the Taste of the Cream Cheese
The cream cheese is an important ingredient for making this dip so creamy. When mixed with the butter, caramel syrup, sweetener, vanilla, and bold dark chocolate, I can hardly pick out the flavor.
However, I know cream cheese can come off as a strong flavor to some. If that’s the case for you, here are a few ways you can hide the taste a bit more:
- Add more dark chocolate
- Reduce the amount of cream cheese by 1 ounce and increase the amount of butter by 1 tablespoon
- Replace some of the cream cheese with homemade whipped cream
Note that any of these methods will change the nutritional value. You’ll want to calculate your own nutrition if you’re watching calories and macros.
Serving with Low-Carb Dippers
Non-keto versions of chocolate chip cream cheese dip are often served with graham crackers, pretzels, or cookies. So what’s the best way to eat this low carb version?
To keep cream cheese chocolate chip dip keto, I enjoy mine with low carb dippers. Sliced strawberries or ChocZero squares are my favorite!
You could also make your own low-carb graham crackers, cream cheese cookies, or keto sugar cookies for dipping. Really any kind of cookie or sweet cracker will be delicious.
And of course, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying chocolate chip dip by itself right off the spoon!

A tablespoon of low-carb powdered sweetener should work too. Or add in sweetener drops to taste.
