    Why you'll love it

There are few things as decadent as licking your spatula after whipping up a batch of chocolate chip cookies. But this practice is... controversial to say the least.

While eating traditional, raw cookie dough could make you sick, my edible protein cookie dough is designed to eat as is (no baking required!).

I make this healthy cookie dough with low-carb flour, sugar-free ChocZero chocolate chips, and vanilla protein powder for a safe and yummy snack.

Beyond being a delicious dessert, this recipe gives you an additional protein boost that will help keep you full and satisfied.

Wondering what goes into the best protein cookie dough? Here are the simple, low-carb ingredients that make this dessert a must-try:

    Butter

The butter in this recipe gives it some extra fat content – a welcome addition to any keto diet.

It also makes the cookie dough super creamy and rich.

    Almond flour

Raw, wheat-based flours can contain germs that could make you sick. But with the addition of naturally gluten-free almond flour, this cookie dough is totally safe to eat.

Almond flour is an awesome keto alternative because it's low in carbs, acts similarly to wheat flour, and provides a satisfying, slightly chewy texture.

You could also use coconut flour in this recipe if it's what you have on hand.

    Sweeteners

To keep this protein powder cookie dough sugar-free, sweetener alternatives are a must!

I used a powdered sweetener along with some sugar-free honey to keep the dough sweet and low in carbs.

And, if you're looking for more information on keto sweeteners, I have an entire post dedicated to the best keto sweeteners out there!

    Vanilla protein powder

The secret to this cookie dough is vanilla protein powder; it gives flavor and protein content to make this dessert a nutritious option.

You can use vegan vanilla protein powder or whey protein powder; just ensure that they include no added sugars.

Try this pea protein powder or this whey protein powder – both with 0g sugar.

    Vanilla extract

For extra flavor, I add a bit of vanilla extract to my protein cookie dough.

This step makes a huge difference in making your recipe taste like the traditional cookie dough you grew up with – it is not to be missed!

    ChocZero chocolate chips

The final ingredient of this edible cookie dough is chocolate chips.

I like using ChocZero milk chocolate chips in my baking because they're sugar-free, low in carbs, and taste incredible.

    Serving suggestions

A serving of cookie dough is improved by a delicious, sweet drink (low-carb, of course).

Try pairing it with a cookie butter latte, keto iced coffee, or white hot chocolate.

And while this protein cookie dough is delicious on its own, feel free to enjoy it alongside some sugar-free chocolate ice cream, keto vanilla ice cream, or no-churn strawberry ice cream.

    Variations

Wondering how you make this recipe your own? Choose between these fun variations to personalize your very own creation:

    • Swap protein powders for chocolate protein powder or whichever flavor you prefer.
    • Add a scoop of nut butter, like natural peanut butter, for more protein, fat content, and yum.
    • Mix in a handful of nuts like almonds, pecans, or walnuts.

    FAQs

These are a few common questions I get about my keto protein cookie dough. If you don't see your question answered, please leave it for me in the comments down below.

    Is this cookie dough gluten-free?

This cookie dough is gluten-free. With this being said, if you're celiac, always be sure to check the labels of your packaged ingredients.
Ensure that your protein powder is manufactured in a certified gluten-free facility to be safe!

    Are chocolate chips keto?

Most chocolate chips are not keto because they often contain added sugars and high-carb counts. Luckily, ChocZero makes low-carb chocolate chips that are sugar-free and can be enjoyed on a keto diet.

Can I eat raw cookie dough?

It is not recommended that you eat raw cookie dough. Traditional cookie recipes contain raw flour and eggs that could make you sick if you eat them before they're baked.
This edible cookie dough recipe, however, is completely free from these ingredients and, therefore, safe to eat raw!
