Enjoy protein on the go with these tasty keto protein bars! Discover macro-friendly, store-bought protein bars complete with nutritional information and yummy flavor options for your convenience.

    keto protein bars

Making healthy snack choices is a staple for any diet. And on a keto diet, it's especially important to practice smart snacking!

Luckily, there are several keto-friendly protein bars on the market. These bars make it easy to enjoy snacks on the go without breaking your ketosis.

Protein bars are a great snack choice because their protein-rich ingredients help fuel your day and satisfy your hunger. But they can also be a source of sneaky carbohydrates and sugar if you aren't choosy.

In this post, I'm including the best keto protein bars on the market, along with ingredients to watch for.

I'm also sharing my own protein-focused recipes that are low-carb, easy to make, and totally scrumptious!

What's in a keto protein bar?

A keto protein bar contains a solid protein source to give you energy throughout the day. The best keto bars will also have macro-friendly ingredients like high-fat coconut oil.

Keto protein bars should also be low in net carbs and have little to no added sugars.

    Top keto protein bar ingredients

To keep protein bars keto, here are some of the best ingredients you'll want to look for:

    Keto-approved protein sources

    • Hemp protein
    • Whey protein isolate
    • Beef protein isolate
    • Collagen protein
    • Pea protein
    • Casein protein
    • Chia seed protein
    • Medium chain triglycerides (MCT oil)

You can read more about keto protein powders here!

    Keto-friendly sweeteners

    • Stevia
    • Monk fruit
    • Erythritol
    • Chicory root fiber
    • Allulose

    Ingredients to avoid

Whenever you're buying a processed snack, checking the ingredients list is a must! Even if something is listed as low-carb or keto-friendly, you can't actually trust that the ingredients will be suitable for a keto diet.

    In keto protein bars, avoid:

    • Added sugars
    • Artificial sweeteners
    • High-fructose corn syrup
    • Gluten (oats, wheat flour, barley, etc.)

    FAQs

Here are some questions people often ask about eating keto protein bars on a low-carb diet. If you don't see your question in this list, please leave it in the comments.

    Are Atkins bars really keto-friendly?

Some Atkins bars are totally keto-friendly, like their white chocolate macadamia nut bar!

Just be aware that some of their bars include maltitol, a sugar alcohol that can spike blood sugar. Avoid products that contain this sneaky ingredient, as it's often avoided on keto diets.

How many calories are in a keto protein bar?

Depending on the brand, a keto protein bar can range between 100-250 calories on average. This is a great snack range!

Is high protein good for ketosis?

High protein isn't a staple of the keto diet, though it shouldn't kick you out of ketosis. Still, you want to prioritize high-fat over high-protein on a ketogenic diet for the best results in weight loss.

Are protein bars good for weight loss?

Protein bars can be good for weight loss if they're macro-friendly (AKA high-fat and low-carb). This can help you reach ketosis and lose weight!
Snacking on protein-rich bars is also a good way to keep you satisfied throughout the day and curb unhealthy snack cravings.
