You’ve probably heard of fathead pizza crust and cauliflower pizza crust. These can be great options for low carb keto pizzas.
But when it comes to crusts, this keto chicken pizza crust can’t be beat! With only 1 net carb per slice, it’s one of the best low carb options.
Making this crust is super simple. You just combine the ingredients, bake, then add your toppings. That means you’re only a few steps away from a guilt-free pizza night.
For this recipe, I also included a creamy ranch-inspired sauce that goes perfectly with the tomato and bacon. And of course, you top it all off with melted cheese.
Keto chicken crust pizza is one of my favorite ways to satisfy a pizza craving without adding a bunch of carbs. Give this recipe a try, because I’m sure it will quickly become one of your favorites, too!
What is chicken crust?
This low carb pizza crust is exactly what it sounds like. It may seem crazy to think of using meat as the base for a pizza, but it’s actually quite popular.
The benefit of meat is that it’s practically carb-free. This recipe is very similar to a meatza pizza which is made from ground beef.
In my opinion, you can get more creative with a keto chicken pizza crust. Chicken is pretty bland, more so than ground beef. This means you can use any kind of flavor combination you want.
How to make the chicken crust pizza keto
The beauty of this recipe is that it comes together so easily. I think it’s much easier than fathead dough.
Make the crust
- Add the crust ingredients in a large bowl and mix until well-combined.
- Form the mixture into a ball.
- Line a pizza pan with parchment paper, place the ball on it, and cover it with another sheet of parchment paper.
- Roll the crust out into a large circle.
- Remove the top piece of parchment paper. If any crust sticks to the top sheet, just scrape it off with a rubber spatula and add it back to the main crust.
- Bake the meat crust at 400°F for 20-25 minutes or until the top is browned.
Adding toppings
- While the meat is baking, combine the ranch sauce ingredients in a medium bowl.
- Once the meat is browned, remove it from the oven. Flip the crust over, removing the parchment paper so the crust is directly on your pan.
- Spread about half of the sauce onto the pizza crust.
- Sprinkle the crust with half of the cheese, then add the bacon, and diced tomatoes. Finally, add the remaining half of the mozzarella cheese on top.
- Put in oven at 400°F and bake for about 10 minutes.
- Cut into 8 slices and serve with remaining ranch sauce.
I love the flavor combination of the ranch sauce, bacon, tomatoes, and cheese. It’s so tasty and satisfying!
You can also try your chicken crust pizza with regular red pizza sauce or white pizza sauce. And feel free to play around with toppings.
How long to cook
You want to keep an eye on your chicken crust to make sure it doesn’t overcook. We want it to be firm enough for the toppings, but not dried out.
When baking, keep an eye on it starting at the 20 minute mark. Once the top is lightly browned, it’s ready.
It will continue cooking after you add the toppings, so you don’t need it to be cooked to a crisp at this point.
Once you add your toppings and return the topped crust to the oven, watch it until the cheese is melty. For me, 10 minutes is just about perfect.
How to mold ground chicken into pizza crust
It’s amazing how easy it is to make a crust out of ground chicken, cheese, egg, and seasoning!
By combining the ingredients in a bowl and then forming them into a ball, you’ll help everything start to bind.
Then, you simply roll out the crust to your desired pizza shape. I strongly recommend rolling it out between two sheets of parchment paper. This keeps the crust from sticking to your rolling pin.
It really is so simple! But, if you prefer a more bread-like texture, definitely check out my coconut flour pizza crust.

My boyfriend and I loved this meal! It is going into my regular rotation (at least every other week). Thanks so much!
Angela
I have been made this several times in the last year. My favorite is to make the crust and add a low sugar bbq sauce, with red onion and green pepper. Sometimes I even add chopped bacon! Soooo good. Thank you!
Debbie Myers
I have made this and loved it, didn't realize ground chicken as in ground like ground beef was a thing, so by mistake I used cooked shredded chicken and it was delicious!!!
Mary
Could I make a crust ahead of time and freeze?
This is sooooo good!
Lisa MarcAurele
The crust can be made ahead and toppings added just before baking if you'd like. When I freeze baked pizza crusts, I like to vacuum seal them to stay fresh.
Mike Boyle
Easy and delicious! The whole family loved it and I make 2 at a time now.
Twix
I love the taste of this! The texture of the crust is not pizza like but the flavor is so good it doesn't bother me. I will definitely be making this again!
Beth
This looks yummy! I have not made it yet but I'm wondering if I can use canned chicken? If so how much would be equivalent to 1 lb? Thx!
Lisa MarcAurele
It depends on the size of the can. But the crust is basically a flat meatloaf. I've used canned salmon before in a loaf so it would be similar. You may need to egg another egg as a binder and make other modifications.
Tami
I've made this TWICE this week! So good!
Tonight I baked 2 for lunches and made up enough for 8 more, which I froze, raw, in double batches for later use. My family loves this. Thank you so much!!
I did notice my crusts turned out very greasy both times. I felt I had to drain the grease off, which I did. I bought the chicken breast already ground in 1 large 12 pound package from my favorite fresh meat store..
Do you think the grease would bake in or bake away if I don't drain it? It pools on top and in the parchment paper.
Open to try any ideas next time!
Lisa MarcAurele
It's like a meatloaf so any fat in the meat tends to come out unless you use very lean meat.
Michelle Aslagson-Klimek
First of all, I have never left feedback on a recipe before, but this recipe made my new low carb lifestyle my new happy place! I have missed pizza and have tried a few low carb recipes but not one has measured up until now! Thank you so much for sharing! Next day leftovers are just as fabulous!

This is Great, am only to try this Crust Next time with Greek Tzatziki Sauce. Thanks this is my go to Pizza Crust now.) Thinking Turkery would be great with Italian Herbs.
Sky's the limit now, I LOVE PIZZA!!! Thanks
Sheri
I have a large pizza pan and the chicken crust shrunk up and is barely a med if that after being cooked the first time.! I rolled it to the very edge of my pan.
.
Lisa MarcAurele
The chicken does shrink up a bit as it cooks.
Ryan
Crust only review. I made just the crust and topped it with our normal toppings of marinara, ham, pepperoni and cheese. It was great! I would recommend rolling out thinner because 1/2” was a little thicker than we like. Also aluminum foil coated with cooking spray works as well as parchment paper. Will definitely make again.
Lisa MarcAurele
Thanks for you tips for making this chicken crust pizza!

Your recipes bless my family. You are the blogger I refer all the low-carb newbies to, because your recipes are not grand sweet concoctions, but everyday good food!
Thanks!

I usually make ranch dip with sour cream and hidden valley ranch packet.. Could I substitute that for the mayo? Cheesecake factory has a chicken crust pizza and I love it. But just had wls.
Lisa
That should work out fine.
Michelle
Am I missing the nutrition info somewhere? I only see calories?
Lisa
I’m working to resolve a software bug. Hoping to have it fixed soon.
Ki
What is the nutrition info just for the crust alone. I’m new to Keto and still learning how to add nutritional values and etc.
Lisa

Jill
Why is the nutritional info so different than that you posted with the recipe? Which is accurate for one slice from and eight slice pizza?
Lisa MarcAurele
The label in the recipe card is only one slice assuming the pie is sliced into 8 pieces.
Jill
That doesn’t make sense. The label and what you entered into the app are both for one slice, given the pizza is cut into eight slices. What am I missing here? It’s quite a difference. I am a pretty small person so the difference in macros is significant even though it might not seem big to most.
Lisa MarcAurele
Recalculated and the numbers are a little different but similar. Feel free to do your own calculation but keep in mind that each will be a little different.
Jessica Thompson
what would be the values of the crust alone? i think this would be a very versitile crust and would like to ue it for othe things as well
Lisa
You'd have to plug it into a program like MyFitnessPal.
Cassandra
How many slices do you slice your pizza into?
Lisa
I like to do 8 slices.
Rita
Can you cook this on a pizza stone?
Lisa
Yes. I cook mine on a pizza stone.
Sarah
Does the crust taste like chicken? How does it actually taste?
Lisa
Chicken is very bland so there's very little taste from it.
beverley
love the recipes, for diabetic husband
JAmie
Is the bacon already cooked when you put it on or raw?
Lisa
I used cooked bacon pieces.
Angie
Cooked
Kelsey
I am making the crust right now...it is very watery on the edges. Did I do something wrong or will it dry up?
Lisa
You may get a little liquid building up along the edges as it cooks, but it shouldn't be an issue when it's done.
Becky Hillman
I wonder ehat size your pizza pan was? I made this tonight and it was amazing, but I had to bake the crust twice as long as it said.... I used a 13 inch pan.
Lisa
My pan is like 15 inches.
BornToWin
I made this pizza and loved it. I only used ground chicken for my crust. I was told I could use ground chicken for crust. I didn't look up the recipe. I just bought ground chicken and smashed it together and rolled it out. I then seasoned one side. Once it was done, I flipped it and put my cooked toppings on with my cheese and pizza sauce. Put back in 400 heated oven and turned oven off and let sit in oven for about 7 minutes. It was so good and easy. My husband had me to make it the next day. Cauliflower pizza is history.
Lisa
The chicken pizza crust is pretty amazing. And, fewer carbs than cauliflower based ones.
Mary
Lisa have you ever frozen this pizza before?
Lisa
I haven't frozen this pizza before, but I have frozen meatballs which would be pretty similar. I'd freeze just the crust and then add in sauce and topping for baking.
Jill
In the seasonings is that a teaspoon of each, basil,,oregano, ect or one teaspoon of Italian seasoning? Thanks
Lisa
It's one teaspoon total.
Rebecca
Would any type of Mayonnaise be ok? I happen to have Duke's on hand. This looks fantastic and I am excited to try it.
Lisa
I like to use avocado mayo, but any should be okay.
LIsa Bennett
Just made and ate (and ate and ate) this pizza. Amazing! Loved the texture and flavor and can already think of dozens of ways to add to this ingenious recipe. Thank you again. 🙂
Lisa
You're welcome Lisa! SO glad you enjoyed this yummy pizza.
Beth
What could I do to replace the sour cream and cheese due to a cholesterol level of 425. Dr wants me on meds I do not wish to take. Thanks for any help!
Lisa
You could try yogurt in place of sour cream. I don't recommend leaving the cheese out, but if you can't tolerate it, I'd replace with meat and make it more of a meatza crust.
Linda
I'm guessing this would work with ground turkey as well? We can buy ground turkey at Aldi's grocery for a very good price. We like to top our pizza's with olive oil and anchovy paste and then the toppings. I have a sensitivity to tomatoes. I can't wait to try this!!
Lisa
Ground turkey works too, it may just have a different taste.
Anil
Hi. If I were to make this using almond flour (I'm a vegetarian) how much of it will I use ? Thanks.
Lisa
I'm not sure how that would work out. You could try one for one and adjust as needed.
Cynthia
You probably just need to make a Fathead pizza crust and not try to convert this one. You could still use the sauce and the toppings.
DavetteB
I've been wondering about the chicken crust since I saw Real Good Pizza on IG.
Thanks for figuring it out 🙂
Trying to figure out what to eat since I don't seem to be getting enough fats, extra cheese on top should help.
Lisa
Chicken makes a fantastic low carb pizza crust. I like it better than the Fat Head dough.
