Ingredients needed
Here’s everything that goes into my spicy jalapeno pepper popper dip:
Sour cream and mayonnaise
The base of this creamy dip is equal parts sour cream and mayonnaise. Both offer a smooth, high-fat base with just the right amount of tang.
If you prefer, you can also swap your sour cream for low-carb Greek yogurt! This swap would give your dip an extra boost of protein.
Cheese blend
A dip this yummy deserves more than one cheese! I include a delicious combination of cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and freshly grated parmesan.
This blend gives the dip a nice depth of flavor with creamy and sharp notes.
Jalapeno peppers
I love cooking with jalapeno peppers because, when seeded, they offer a really subtle heat and a whole lot of tasty flavor!
Fresh garlic
Fresh garlic makes a huge difference in the flavor profile of this dish. I’m begging you – don’t swap for garlic powder!
Seasoning
This jalapeno popper dip doesn’t need much seasoning to bring everything together. I add a simple combination of onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Bacon
Crispy bacon is the ultimate topping for this keto appetizer. The flavor really compliments the added smoked paprika.
Cooking tips
- If you’re not a big fan of spice but love the flavor of jalapenos, remove the seeds before adding the peppers to your dip. Spice lovers can add a few seeds for an extra kick.
- Make sure to crisp your bacon well; crunchy bacon is best for topping this dip.
- Serve this dish hot for the best flavor. Let it cool for just a few minutes, then dig in with your favorite dippables.
How to make jalapeno popper dip
Ready to make my jalapeno pepper popper dip? Anyone can make this simple recipe!
Step 1: Preheat the oven
First things first, preheat your oven to 375°F.
Step 2: Mix the dip
While your oven heats, prepare your keto dip in a large mixing bowl. Add softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, shredded cheddar, parmesan cheese, sour cream, and chopped jalapeno peppers.
Top your bowl with seasonings and fresh minced garlic. Then, mix well until all ingredients are combined.
Step 3: Bake
And just like that, you’re ready to bake!
Transfer your prepped dip into an oven-safe baking dish and bake in your preheated oven. You’ll know the dip is ready when it’s all bubbly and slightly golden on the surface.
Step 4: Crisp bacon
While you wait for your dip to finish baking, take this time to cook your bacon slices. The goal is to make them nice and crispy!
Once cooked, crumble your bacon into tiny pieces.
Step 5: Top and serve baked dip
Top your baked dip with bacon crumbles, and dig in!

If you’d like to experiment with different peppers, you can absolutely swap jalapenos for the pepper of your choice! This creamy, tangy dip would suit just about any pepper.
Here are a few options:
- Poblano peppers: Rich and smokey flavor, slightly less spicy
- Anaheim peppers: Mild and fresh, perfect for those with a low heat tolerance
- Habanero peppers: For the most intense spice lovers, adjust quantities as needed
- Chipotle peppers: Smoked and dried jalapeno peppers add incredible depth of flavor
- Serrano peppers: Similar flavor to jalapenos with a bit more spice
Jalapeno peppers give this dip a mild spice. Because the seeds are removed, however, the spice level is dramatically lessened.
Additionally, the creamy base of sour cream, cream cheese, and mayonnaise gives the dip a cooling effect, cutting the heat from the peppers.
I’d say that anyone who can handle mild heat would enjoy this appetizer as long as the peppers are seeded.
